Founder of Ixchel Therapies, I have 20 years experience of massage and bodywork. I am fully qualified, insured and accredited and specialise in Advanced Clinical & Sports Massage.
I work alongside a GP Practice at new Larchwood, near Sussex University, Brighton. This is a lovely centre that is very much part of the local community. I have a wide range of clients coming from outside the area and am also able to travel to clients if necessary.
I have a BTEC Level 6 in Advanced Clinical and Sports Massage, a 3-year degree level qualification from the Jing Institute of Advanced Massage. This means my skills are up to date with the latest expertise in the field of massage and bodywork for treating muscular-skeletal pain and health challenges in the body.
When working with Clinical Massage I specialise in Repetitive Strain Syndromes and Sports Massage for chronic conditions of the lower back, neck, shoulder, leg etc. including, for example, Slipped Disc and Carpal Tunnel. I also use, amongst other techniques, Systematic Kinesiology to muscle test my clients and identify imbalances or food and chemical intolerances causing general health issues.
If there has been no specific injury, most health challenges or pain conditions are due to tension, either in muscles or body systems. This can build up slowly, but can manifest into debilitating and painful body experiences later on. I have created Ixchel Therapies so that I can help people to restore and prevent these challenges.
I like to build a close relationship with my clients and adapt all treatments specifically for each session. Every ‘body’ is different and although a pathology may be the same in two different clients, the reason they have it may be completely different. With all chronic pain conditions there are often many elements contributing to them: Physical, Postural, Nutritional, Emotional and Environmental. Therefore, it is important to work together to address the aspects of life that may be contributing to any health challenge or pain condition that is presenting itself.
I am especially interested in undiagnosed pain conditions that despite endless tests, scans and investigative procedures, the doctors are unable to find a clear diagnosis. Very often the underlying issue is trauma in the body. With the Myofascial Release and Cranial Sacral techniques that I use, I like to work with clients to help them to release body memories that are holding onto this pain resulting in a freer and profound sense of well-being.
Whether you are experiencing pain from disease, have suffered a sports injury, are feeling generally run down, tired and stressed, or any other reason which has brought you to Ixchel Therapies’ website, I look forward to making you feel better.
